Who We Are
We are avid readers, and we wanted to share our love of books with the kids on Harbour Island. Our mom's family settled in the Bahamas in the late 1700s and lived on Harbour Island. We spend our holidays and summers there, and when we were younger, we attended The Dunmore School. After many visits to the library, we saw a need for more kids and young adult books.
So, in 2014 we started collecting books and have now donated over 750 books to the Sir George Roberts Memorial Library.
Book Collection and Distribution
We keep a list of every book we read. If it's a book that we think others will enjoy, we write to the author and explain that we would love an extra copy for the library. You'd be surprised how many books we receive! We sort them and box them for shipment. (Or pack them in our suitcase for our next trip)
Tribeca - Neighborhood Pickup
Got too many books piling up on your shelves? No problem! We are happy to come by with our cart and take those books off your hands....as long as they aren't boring books. Life's too short for bad books.
Shipping
A special thanks to Seacor for shipping our books from Ft. Lauderdale to Harbour Island for us at a special parcel rate!! Books are heavy and so we really appreciate your help.
If you have books you would like to donate, please email booksforbriland@gmail.com and we can include them in our next shipment.
Visit / Volunteer
If you are visiting Harbour Island, stop by the library and check out a good book! Library cards can be purchased for a nominal fee. Better yet, see if they need any help reading to younger kids or sorting returned books.
